Shingles Vaccine Invites
From 1st September 2023, Aspri Medical Centre will start to invite patients 50 and over who have very low immunity to have a course of Shingles vaccinations (please see link below) as part of changes to the national shingles vaccination programme. We will be using our automated booking line for patient to book appointments and you will be invited by SMS, or telephone.
Shingles is a condition that can be very painful and have long-lasting effects. Although shingles can occur at any age, the risk and severity of shingles and its complications increases with age, especially in individuals who are immunocompromised (low immunity due to medication or a medical condition). The shingles vaccination significantly reduces your chance of getting shingles. (Or, if you do get shingles, it is likely to be a milder and shorter illness.) The vaccine used will be ‘non live’ and suitable for peope with weakend immune systems.
Non Immune-Compromised Patients
During the Autumn we will be offering shingles to 65 YEAR OLDS AND 70-YEAR OLDS (INVITE ONLY) Over the next 5 years Public health England will widen age bands so that all patients over 60 will be offered the vaccine.
If you are OVER the age of 70 to 79 you are eligible now to book your appointment. You can call the appointment line by calling 0208 427 9623

WEEKEND AND EVENING APPOINTMENTS
Our Primary Care Networks are working together and are able to provide more appointment hours to patients across NW London.
The changes mean that locally practices are able to provide more appointments during the hours that best suit patients, this includes evening and weekend appointments.
Patients can book by contacting the practice in hours. Out of practice hours, patients can check the practice website for details of how to book local appointments or call the surgery where the answer phone will provide booking details. 111 online/phone can also book patients in for local appointments in the evening and at the weekend.
Evening and weekend appointments may take place by phone, video, or face-to-face depending on clinical need. Patients may be offered an appointment at their GP practice, another local GP practice or another local NHS service.
These changes mean we can provide more appointments for patients when they most need them.

Named GP for all patients
All patients at ASPRI MEDICAL CENTRE have a named GP ( Dr K Karia) who is responsible for your overall care at the practice. This does not prevent you from seeing any GP in the practice as you currently do.
New patients are allocated a named GP when registering with the Surgery. The named GP allocated will be shown on New patient Questionnaire that you will need to complete in order to register.
PATIENT SURVEY / FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEST
In order for us to improve our services and get feedback from our patients we would urge you to visit our surgery and ask for Friends and Family Practice survey form. This takes only few minutes to fill out but your feedback will guide us to the direction where you want us to be. This can also be done via your phone, whenever you attend the surgery for your appointment you will get a text message to participate in survey.
EVENING AND WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS
Appointments are available in the evening and at weekends - please call the practice on 0208 427 9623 to be directed to book an out of hours’ appointment with one of our local linked practices. Alternatively, please visit 111 online or call 111 to be directed to the help you need.
If it’s not urgent you can also use the online consultation form on the practice website, which will be responded in practice hours.
These evening and weekend appointments may take place by phone, video, or face-to-face depending on clinical need. You may be offered an appointment at your GP practice, another local GP practice or another local NHS service. This is because we are working with other local GP practices to provide these appointments - our practice is part of a small group of practices called a Primary Care Network. Working together means we can provide more local services to you.
