Welcome to The Village Practice, previously known as The McColl McLaughlin Medical Practice, following the retirement of Dr McColl after 36 years service. The Practice name has changed and we have 2 additional GP Partners joining Dr McLaughlin. We welcome Dr Anna Wight and Dr Barbara Kay to the partnership, having both previously been GP Registrar's and latterly employed as a Salaried GP and a longterm Locum Gp with the Practice.

Patient consultations are now being delivered in a range of ways to help meet the needs of all our patient groups including online, telephone, video and face to face.  You may be asked for more information from our Administrative staff to help them navigateto the most appropriate service or professional, our Staff have been asked to gather this information in order to direct patients to the most appropriate service eg ANP/GP consultation, Pharmacy First or Optician.  More information regarding these services is available from the NHSInform website.

Our phone system has recently been upgraded and will advise of your queue position. The lines are particularly busy first thing in the morning and ask unless it is urgent to avoid this time, if phoning for results please call between 2 & 5pm.  Urgent appointments will be assesses by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Please note you may not be able to see the Doctor of your choie at short notice or for emergency consultations.  Appointments are in high demand and we monitor attendance, as such if appointments are not cancelled we will follow up on this and may ask you to register with another local GP Practice.

If you have a mouth/gum problem please contact your dentist, for eye problems please contact an optician.  The Pharmacy First Service can treat and advise for many problems & a range of common conditions without seeing a GP. Please ask for a leaflet from your local pharmacy.

Access

The health centre is fully equipped and is easily accessible to the disabled, the elderly and parents of young children. There is a baby changing area and children’s play area. We have a large car park with reserved spaces for disabled patients.

The health centre reception is open weekdays between 08:00 - 18:00. Telephone line is available from 8.15am -6pm.

The Reception desk will be closed between 12.30-1.30pm The Practice is not closed and is available during this time for medical emergencies by calling 0141 531 6901.

Our trained administrative advisors may ask you some questions which will help navigate you to the most appropriate person in particular if you are requesting an emergency On the Day appointment.

We are committed to ensure our staff are treated with dignity and respect whilst at work, recently there has been an increase of aggressive and abusive behaviour both by phone and in person towards our staff.  This will not be tolerated, the call will be terminated and if in person asked to leave the premises.
