ONLINE CONSULATIONS: E-Consultations in the NHS
Patients seeking to book an appointment for medical problems will now be offered an initial telephone triage call or telephone consultation with the nurse or the doctor. The practice is unable to arrange tests for coronavirus. Information about Covid Testing is available online (click here) or call the Covid-19 telephone helpline on 119.
You can access the most up to date information on Local Coronavirus Testing here: Coronavirus Information - Testing Centres
IF YOU ARE CONCERNED that you may have been exposed to or become infected with the Novel Coronavirus you should use the NHS 111 Online Symptom Checker or telephone NHS 111. DO NOT go to your GP Surgery.
The advice for affected individuals is to stay at home and not attend work or school. Patients who are seriously ill will be referred to the hospital Emergency Department by NHS 111 or other responding clinicians as deemed necessary.
SYMPTOMS AND WHAT TO DO:
You should look for any of the following symptoms:
- persistent cough
- difficulty in breathing / shortness of breath
- headache
- muscle pain
- fever (a temperature of 37.8 degrees centigrade or higher)
- Symptoms can range from mild to severe and can be more severe in people with weakened immune systems, such as older people and those with long-term conditions like diabetes cancer and chronic lung disease.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS LISTED ABOVE YOU SHOULD:
- self-isolate at home immediately and call NHS 111
NHS Self-isolation advice

Vaccination - click here for NHS Information
Find out about coronavirus vaccination, including who will get the vaccine first and information about vaccine safety.
Nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and other NHS staff are working alongside GPs to vaccinate those aged 80 and over and care home workers and residents – the first priority groups identified to receive the life-saving vaccine.
Northamptonshire Practice teams have been working rapidly to redesign Designated Vaccination Sites and put in place safe processes to meet the tough logistical challenges of offering the vaccination.
Vaccination Centre: The NHS Designated Vaccination Centre for Rillwood, Danes Camp and Eleanor Cross Healthcare patients is Whitefields Surgery located in Hunsbury Hill Road, Camp Hill, Northampton NN4 9UW.
By Car: There is limited parking at Whitefields Surgery but arrangements have been made for short stay parking at nearby Hunsbury Hill Country Park and also the rear car park of the now closed Ironstone pub on Hunsbury Hill Road.
By Bus: The number 3 Bus service stops close to the surgery on both sides of Hunsbury Hill Road.

Wait to be contacted by the NHS for your COVID-19 vaccination
The NHS will contact people in the priority groups when it is their turn to receive the vaccine. People are urged not to contact the NHS to ask about vaccination in the meantime.
- At present, patients’ who have had anaphylactic reactions to food and medicines are not advised to have the vaccine.
- There has to be a gap of at least one week between other vaccines and the Covid vaccine.
Getting an antibody test
An antibody test can tell you if it's likely you've had coronavirus before but it does not work for everyone. Antibody tests are not widely available yet. Please click here for more information.

If you have lived with or had close contact (within 2 metres for 15 minutes of more) with a confirmed case of 2019-nCoV , you should use the NHS 111 Online Symptom Checker before contacting NHS 111 for further advice.
If you have a new persistent dry cough and high temperature (above 37.8 Celsius) then you and others that you live with (including children) must self-isolate at home for seven days. This applies whether or not you have travelled abroad. In this case there is no need to call NHS 111 to let them know that you are self-isolating unless your symptoms worsen. DO NOT go to your GP Surgery.
WHILST YOU AWAIT FURTHER ADVICE FROM NHS 111:
- avoid contact with others
- stay at home, do not attend work or school
- do not travel while sick
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. Throw tissues in the bin
- wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser if soap and water are not available.
It is important to remember that having the above symptoms does not necessarily mean a person has COVID-19. The symptoms are similar to other common illnesses, such as cold and flu.
