KIRKVIEW PRACTICE BULLETIN BOARD

ACCESS TO THE PRACTICE DURING OPENING HOURS

Please be advised that the practice reception team are available from 8.30am-1.00pm and from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.

If you arrive at the practice before 8.30am, please note that the reception office will be closed until 8.30am. Please take a seat until such time that the desk opens, and we can assist you.

During 1.00pm-2.00pm each day, the practice does not take phone calls unless you access our emergency line for life-threatening needs (details of this are contained within our telephone message). At this time, our reception desk is also closed to allow administrative staff to complete tasks from our morning surgeries, and prepare for the afternoon surgeries.

We would therefore appreciate that if you are visiting the practice for any reason other than attending an appointment, you avoid presenting from 1.00pm-2.00pm.

Thank you.

COMMUNITY LINK WORKER

We are pleased to advise that Kirkview Medical Practice provides appointments with a Community Link Worker at the practice. At the moment, we are being supported by Linda Barbour, Community Link Worker, on Thursdays.

A Community Link Worker can help you find the right support with any social issues that are affecting your health and well-being. For example, social isolation, money worries, education, benefits and welfare, unemployment and bereavement. They can spend time with you, looking at what changes you'd like to make, and advise on the steps you need to take and services you can access in reaching your goal. A Community Link Worker has lots of knowledge of what is available in your local community and the services that are offered, so whether you want to start attending a local group, or just need some information on what's available, they are here for you.

If you feel this is something that would be of benefit to you and your circumstances, please let us know and we can put you in contact with Linda at the surgery.

SELF-REFERRAL FOR MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

There is now a brand new website available to patients living within the boundaries of NHS Lanarkshire. The website hosts comprehensive information on what Physiotherapy can offer, as well as useful advice and exercises. These exercises and videos provide patients with an easy-to-use guide on how to manage common musculoskeletal conditions.

Patients will also be able to to complete an online form to self-refer to NHS Lanarkshire Physiotherapy. The self-referral can be completed by any adult living in Lanarkshire, who has a musculoskeletal condition. The form will be received by the Physiotherapy team, and will be clinically triaged before being added to the waiting list for review.

SELF- REFERRAL FOR PODIATRY SERVICES

As of 30th May 2022, a new service will be implemented in the East Kilbride locality, which sees changes to the process for referral to podiatry services. Referrals are now being taken directly from patients via telephone, where patients will be screened and triaged. Depending on the outcome of this telephone screening appointment, you will either be given self-care advice, a telephone appointment with a clinician or a face to face appointment if warranted.

To self-refer for Podiatry services, please call the referral hub on 01698 753 753.
