Training Closure | Tuesday 17th June from 1pm
Due to staff training, our Office will be closed at 1pm on Tuesday 17th June.
If you have an appointment, please check-in at our Reception as normal.
If you require urgent medical assistance between 1pm and 6pm, please call 888240 to listen to our recorded message with further instructions.
After 6pm, please contact NHS24 on 111. We will re-open on Wednesday 18th June at 8:30am. Thank you.

High Demand on Mondays | Information for Patients
December, 2023
Dear Patients,
Demand for appointments continues to increase and Mondays are consistently our busiest day. Our GP triage system aims to prioritise patients who are unable to wait for a routine appointment by offering a review or response to your issue by a GP on the same day.
You can help us by only calling on a Monday if you feel your concern is clinically urgent and can’t safely wait until later in the week. We would request that all appointment and visit requests on a Monday be made prior to midday in order for us to safely plan this work. After midday we can only offer review of clinically urgent problems.
You can also help by remembering to cancel any appointments that are no longer needed so they can be offered to other patients.

Welcome to Skerryvore Practice
Our Practice is deeply rooted in the local community and patient care is at the heart of all we do. We are a semi-rural practice based in the town of Kirkwall providing General Medical Services to a population of approximately 8,700 patients on the mainland of Orkney.
We have a multidisciplinary team currently comprising 9 Doctors, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 4 Nurses & 2 Health Care Assistants, a Pharmacotherapy Team, and Community Link Workers. The clinical team is supported by an experienced and committed management and administrative team.
Skerryvore is a teaching practice with over 25 years’ experience of this. We host GPST1 and GPST3 trainees as well as ScotGEM third year medical students.
This website has been developed to provide useful information about the Practice and the services we provide to our existing patients, as well as patients who are considering registering with us.
