Prostate Cancer UK is working in partnership with the NHS to find more than 14,000 men in the UK who need treatment for prostate cancer but have not yet come forward for a diagnosis.

Speak up about your mental health!

We don’t always think rationally when we are in mental health crisis that’s why it’s a good idea to make a plan to support you if a crisis happens.

Take a look at the information, advice and suggestions about how to create a plan on the Mind website: https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/guides-to-support-and-services/crisis-services/planning-for-a-crisis/

Health organisations in Lancashire and South Cumbria have worked together to develop this interactive map of mental health services.

The Google Maps based system lists all the organisations working locally, and allows you to search for your closest service or for specific types of support, to help you get appropriate care.

Welcome to New Longton Surgery

We are a small long established practice serving the village of New Longton and surrounding areas. We try to get to know our patients and are committed to continuity of care which we believe is so important for everyone.

New Longton Surgery, is part of the Bridgedale Primary Care Network.  The Bridgedale Primary Care Network comprises of:

  • New Longton Surgery
  • Lostock Hall Medical Centre
  • Riverside Medical Centre
  • Roslea Surgery
  • The Ryan Medical Centre

We will aim to collaborate and work in a streamlined way to strengthen relationships within our PCN and build effective community links whilst responding to local, regional and national initiatives.  The projects in the PCN involve working with outreach teams in the local community.  This work involves working with the local food banks, offering health checks, lifestyle advice, social prescribing suppor and assistance and working to tackle health inequalities in the area.

We offer a wide range of clinics and services whilst working closely with other health care professionals to be part of an efficient primary health care team. Whilst most care is delivered in surgery, where appropriate you may be asked to attend local health centres or even hospital. We understand that in exceptional circumstances care needs to be given at home.

Service dogs are welcome into surgery, regrettably no other animals are permitted. All our consulting rooms are on the ground floor and are accessible to wheelchair users, there is also a wheelchair accessible toilet and baby changing facilities within the surgery. We can also arrange access to telephone translators if required, please request at time of booking your appointment.

Small practices are under threat nationally and whilst we may work in a traditional "patient-centred" way, we are also dealing with the relentless changes expected of us and planning for the future. We work under the umbrella of Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and NHS England (NHSE), please be understanding with us when we tell you that not everything is under our control!

YOUR HEALTH

According to The World Health Organisation, health is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Rather than wait until you are unwell, much of what our team of healthcare professionals do is designed to keep you well, happy and safe. We can't do this without you - a healthy lifestyle is in your control!

OUR PRIORITY

Our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

We hope you enjoy having a look around the site and familiarising yourself with some of the online features such as ordering a repeat prescription. Whatever your thoughts, be sure to let us know via our feedback function. Comments and suggestions are always a great way of helping us continue to enhance the way we look after you.

We are pleased to be able to offer evening and weekend appointments by working in collaboration with other GP Practices in the area.

This does mean that if you want to be seen on a weekday evening or weekend, your appointment may be held at a different GP practice to your registered practice and with a different GP or nurse than you usually see. These will be available:

·         Between 18:30 pm and 19:45 pm on weekday evenings

·         Between 09:00 am and 17:00 pm on Saturdays (Weekend appointments                times vary depending on day of clinic)

The practices working together and where you may be offered an appointment are: New Longton Surgery, Roslea Surgery, Riverside Medical Centre and The Ryan Medical Centre.

Your medical records will be available to the clinician that sees you to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care.

In order to book an evening or weekend appointment, you must call your GP practice as these appointments are not currently available online.

However if you need to book an evening or weekend appointment and your GP surgery is closed, please call NHS 111 and they will be able to advise you further.
