Coronavirus - Looking After Your Mental Health

Change to childhood vaccination clinics

Clinics are now held at a special clinic at Parkgrove Medical Practice.  Parents will receive an appointment letter when vaccinations are due.  If you have any queries about your appointment or need to re-schedule please contact the Community Vaccination Team on 0131 446 4082.  Please do NOT contact Parkgrove Practice directly.

Car Parking at the Surgery

There is limited car parking available in the surgery car park. There are now designated disabled bays and parent and child bays within the car park.  We ask that you only use these parking bays if you are entitled to do so.

EYE PROBLEM? 

Whatever your eye problem your first port of call should be an optometrist.  An optometrist is the the best person to assess urgent eye problems, check for eye disorders and treat eye conditions e.g. red eye, sore eye, deterioration of eyesight, something in your eye and eye infections.  They have the professional training and necessary equipments to assess most eye problems and will refer to a specialist when necessary.  You will not have to pay for these appointments as they are NHS funded.

If you already have your own optometrist you should contact them in the first instance as they will have your clinical records.  If you do not have an optometrist already there is a list below of some local optometrists who provide this service.  Please telephone the optometrist of your choice in the first instance for an assessment.

Patient Confidentiality is extremely important to us at the surgery

We are unable to give out information to anyone other than the patient - this includes details of appointments or any test results, unless by prior arrangement with the Practice.  This is to protect your confidentiality.  If you want to nominate someone to be able to access this information on your behalf, please send a signed letter to the practice giving the name of the person you permit to access your information.

NHS 24 - Telephone Number 111

The telephone number to contact NHS 24 is 111. 

NHS 24 should be used when someone is unwell outside surgery working hours and is unable to wait until the surgery has re-opened.  In the event of a life-threatening emergency always dial 999.

Aged 50-74? Have you completed Bowel Screening Kit? See Further Information->

You can't always see the signs!  Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK.  The earlier it's found, the more effectively it can be treated.

If you are aged 50-74 you will automatically be sent a free bowel screening kit.  If you are over 74, you can request a kit by calling 0800 0121 833.

Why do our Admin staff Ask Questions?


Our admin staff are a vital part of the health care team and are there to triage enquires.
You don’t have to tell them anything that makes you uncomfortable, however they
can help you get the most appropriate appointment as quickly as possible. All the information they handle is treated confidentially.  

Our Practice staff includes a Multi-Disciplinary Team of Health Professionals including  Pharmacists, Mental Health Nurse, Counsellor and an ANP. We do utilise their skills as often as possible and will book patients in with them where appropriate to ensure there is no delay to patient care.

Our health services are under enormous pressure, but we are open and here if needed. Please work together with us to make sure you get the right care, in the right place, at the right time by the appropriate health professional for your needs.  Our staff work extremely hard to provide the best care for our patients and we would ask that you treat them with courtesy in any interactions you may have with them. Dementia Specialist Admiral Nurse Clinic at Cramond Medical Practice

We are really fortunate to have a Dementia Specialist Admiral Nurse Clinic in the practice every Thursday.  The Admiral Nurse offers compassionate one-to-one support and practical solutions for people looking after someone with dementia.  To arrange an appointment, please call 0131 357 2611.  For more information on the service please click here

Nursing Services - CTAC

We are lucky to have a Community Treatment and Care Service (CTAC) in Edinburgh.  This service with sites across the city (including Parkgrove) can offer NHS services including ear syringing and removal of clips or  sutures.  Patients can self-refer for these services by calling 0131 537 7205.  Please note that ear syringing is no longer provided in the practice.
