NEW PHONE FIRST SERVICE

Did you know, Belfast Trust launched a Phone First service for patients with minor injuries, effective from Tuesday 9 January

Patients who have minor injuries should call 02896 159 444 to be triaged by phone before being advised of the next steps to take.

Phone First has been introduced to address ongoing capacity issues across Emergency Departments which has resulted in longer waits for your constituents aged 16+ with minor injuries. This does not affect patients who are experiencing potentially life-threatening illness or injury, who should call 999 for urgent medical attention.

The Phone First service has been operational across Northern, Southern and Western Health Trusts for some time with Belfast Trust launching the service on 9 January 2024. The service will operate 8am-6pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Patients who require care outside these hours should attend the Emergency Department or call the GP Out - of - Hours service.

UPDATED APRIL 2024

PATIENTS AGED OVER 75YEARS AND THOSE PATIENTS AGED 18-74 WHO ARE SEVERLEY IMMUNOSUPPRESSED ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE COVID SPRING BOOSTER. PLEASE TELEPHONE THE SURGERY TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT IN ONE OF OUR CLINICS

It is important that patients continue to monitor our website to ensure they are aware of any changes to the services we provide, especially how to access them.

Appointments- patients can  book  face to face appointments with their GP by ringing reception 8.30-5.45pm.

Telephone calls - patients can telephone and speak to a doctor . As the GPs work on a personal list basis and the high volume of telephone calls we would prefer if you speak to your usual GP, that knows you best. You may be asked to call back if your GP is not in work on the day you call. Urgent Calls only will be triaged by the duty doctor. It is important that you are available to take a returning call,  as the doctor will only telephone once.

Due to the increase in booked face to face appointments we have had to limit the number of telephone calls, If your GP has exceeded their

number of calls you may be asked to call back or book a routine appointment, the exception to this medical emergencies.

Treatment room- This in NOT a walk-in service and appointments must be booked.

DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE A COUGH/COLD OR ANY COVID SYMPTOMS

Housecalls- a doctor will telephone first and only visit if it is absolutely necessary.

Prescription Requests- these will continue to be issued. Please telephone our automated prescription line 8.30-6.00 02890614314. We can take them by telephone between 9.30am and 3.00pm due to the high levels of incoming calls we would prefer if you used the automated line. We also encourage patients to sign up for the Patients online prescribing service and also nominate a pharmacy to collect their prescription. (Application forms under the prescriptions tab)

Please allow 48-72 hours for your prescription to be processed. Please do not ring to check is a prescription is ready, as this is tying up a telephone line and a member of staff. If there is a problem with your request a member of staff will call you to discuss.
