FLUENZ - 2/3 year olds (born between 2/7.14 - 1/9/16)
This vaccine can be given as a nasal spray rather than an injection - your child will experience no pain.  The extended programme which has been running for the past few years is expected to appreciably lower the public health impact of flu by directly averting a large number of cases of disease in children, and, through lowering flu transmission in the community, indirectly preventing flu in unvaccinated younger children, people in clinical risk groups, and older adults.  This is expected to substantially reduce flu-related illness, GP consultations, hospital admissions and deaths.  No appointment necessary Monday 1st October - Friday 5th October 2018 - 9.00am-1pm or 2.00pm-5.30pm. We look forward to a good turn out and increase our % from last year which was 53%.

CHANGES TO RUNNING OF THE TREATMENT ROOM AT CASTLEDERG SURGERY FROM 1ST OCTOBER 2018

Starting 1st October 2018 the number of nurses available to provide treatment room access for patients will significantly be reduced due to sudden unforeseen circumstances.  The primary purpose of treatment rooms is to provide a space for nursing intervention such as dressings and wound care, administrating injectable therapies and review of post-operative patients as directed by secondary care.  With the reduction in capacity to see patient's Castlederg Surgery treatment room nurses will now focus on seeing patients which fulfill their primary purpose.

Patients with minor ailments will be advised to seek review by alternative healthcare providers such as local pharmacists.

Should URGENT healthcare review of advice be felt necessary, patients can avail of our GP triage system whereby your name and contact details will be taken for a dedicated GP to phone back and discuss your health concern.  Individual outcomes from this consult may include advice over the phone, issuing a prescription over the phone, advice to book a routine GP review of a same day GP appointment if felt necessary.  GP triaged ring backs should be reserved for matters that my need Medical attention that day and not for routine matters.

We will continue to accommodate patients with minor injuries as much as possible but under periods of extreme pressure we may have to re-direct patients to the minor injury unit in Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex.

Please Note our Receptionists are NOT trying to be doctors or make medical assessments.  They are duty bound to respect our confidentiality in exactly the same way as the GPs.
